Title – The importance of considering the ‘use phase’ benefits of TiO2 when formulating decorative coatings to reduce Carbon Footprint

Abstract –

Carbon Footprint is a part of the Sustainability agenda with increasing focus. Carbon Footprint reduction goals in decorative paint manufacture are being introduced and these inevitably lead to the targeting of highly functional materials such as TiO2, that come with a relatively high Carbon Footprint burden per Kg. All valid methodologies direct that formulators need to take into account the performance of a coating and other use phase benefits through the full life cycle, if valid and truly sustainable formulation developments are to be made.
